PEA — Tamponade Recognition · L1

How this exercise works

Drag ACLS interventions into the correct priority order for bradycardia, tachycardia, or arrest algorithms. Life-threatening rhythms get pacing, shock, or epinephrine before secondary steps.

Fundamental concept

Sequencing pacing, defibrillation, medications, and supportive care for bradycardia, tachycardia, and arrest rhythms.

Scenario

PEA arrest during transport. CPR ongoing. EtCO₂ 12, distended neck veins, muffled heart sounds.

Drag items into priority order — highest priority at the top.

Available

Identify Beck triad suggesting cardiac tamponade
Treat other reversible H's and T's concurrently
Continue high-quality CPR and epinephrine per ACLS
Notify receiving facility of suspected tamponade
Rapid transport; pericardiocentesis if protocol and skills allow
