Trauma Management

TBI — Prevent Secondary Injury · L1

How this exercise works

Rank multi-system trauma interventions from most to least urgent. Hemorrhage control and airway still precede detailed extremity care.

Fundamental concept

Ranking hemorrhage control, airway management, and stabilization before definitive fracture care in complex trauma.

Read: Multi-System Trauma Intervention Priority →

Scenario

MVC unrestrained driver: GCS 10, right pupil 5 mm sluggish, BP 158/92, HR 54, SpO₂ 96%.

Drag items into priority order — highest priority at the top.

Available

Head elevation 30° if spine cleared and not hypotensive
C-spine precautions and prevent hyperventilation (EtCO₂ 35–40)
Trauma center transport with neurosurgical capability notification
Prevent hypotension — target SBP >90 mmHg (or >100 if age >10 per pediatric)
Maintain SpO₂ >94% and prevent hypoxia
